FAQ Page 2

Will I put my child at risk in any way by sending his videotape to Child Shield U.S.A. ™ for safekeeping?

Absolutely not!  Child Shield U.S.A. , does not ever receive or store any data or information on any child.  Each tape is identified only by a secret Code Number, known only to the parents.  We have no way of knowing who any child is, or where any child is from, unless the parents report their child missing to us.  Even if it were possible for someone to somehow locate and gain access to our videotape storage facility, such access would in no way jeopardize the welfare of any of the children whose videotapes are stored there.  With only the secret code number to go on, one would have to search every home in the United States to find any Child Shield registered child.  Despite the absence of any danger to the children whose videotapes are stored with us, we still have in place extreme measures of security to prevent any form of unauthorized access.  Also, rest assured, the appropriate provisions have been made to safeguard the tapes from

Is there any other service like Child Shield,
U.S.A. ™ ?

NO Child Shield, U.S.A. , has the ONLY service of its kind in the world.  Unlike a still photograph, a properly prepared Identification Videotape gives the authorities and others so much more to go on when searching for a missing child.  Familiarity with characteristics such as voice, manner, and motion can greatly improve the likelihood that someone may remember seeing the child.  There is no other firm, agency, or organization in America with the capability to duplicate and distribute missing children's video images as far, as wide, and as fast as Child Shield, U.S.A. ™ ,.

Doesn't the Blockbuster Video store chain offer a children's video program?

Yes, but Blockbuster's program offers parents NONE of the services provided by Child Shield, U.S.A. , Blockbuster does not duplicate videotapes at all, nor do they distribute videotapes if a child becomes missing.  All Blockbuster does for parents is what Child Shield, U.S.A. TM, suggests that parents do for themselves, shoot the videotape of the child.  With the Blockbuster program, the parents can only have the tape shot on weekends during the month of August, and then they must fend for themselves to find the knowledge, the money, and the facilities necessary to reproduce and distribute copies of that tape if their child should ever become missing.  This is probably why a number of parents who have had their children videotaped at Blockbuster have sent those tapes to Child Shield, U.S.A. ; for safe keeping.  (For the record, we have nothing against Blockbuster, it is just that we feel that making an Identification Videotape of your child is only one of several steps that all parents should take to safeguard their children.)
